LIMEROCK INN

LimeRock Inn is tucked away on a quiet street in Rockland’s Historic District, but it’s just steps away from our vibrant downtown which is home to world-class museums, beautiful art galleries, fine dining, and boutique shopping. The nearby Rockland Harbor trail, with views of the harbor and punctuated by historic markets and art pieces, was called "mid-coast Maine's most beautiful ocean walk" by Downeast Magazine.

Encircled by a wraparound porch and landscaped gardens, this beautiful turreted Victorian mansion is an exquisite example of Queen Anne and Eastlake architecture reminiscent of the gracious lifestyle of Rockland in the late 19th century. We blend the best of classic style with modern appointments in eight guest rooms all with ensuite baths. We are the original and authentic "live like a local" vacation rental experience! As resident owners, we offer 24 hour concierge services and daily housekeeping. With a strong commitment to promoting environmentally friendly practices, LimeRock is also certified as a Maine Lodging Environmental Leader in recognition of our efforts to reduced the use of plastics, conserve energy, and recycle.

We would like to sincerely thank our guests for once again voting LimeRock Inn a TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Winner in 2025! In recognition of and appreciation for our generous guests, we donate $10 from every stay to local charities that support our community and those most in need.

OUR GUEST ROOMS

LimeRock Inn offers eight guest rooms with ensuite baths, all named for Maine coastal islands. The décor is eclectic – from ornate Victorian to cottage-style charm.

As you explore the Inn, we hope you will notice the elegant woodwork, the gas/electric lighting fixtures, and the original floors – which range from hard wood, to pine, to imported Victorian English encaustic tile, and even original Linoleum that was state of the art in 1890 and is still in amazing condition after more than 130 years of use. Whenever possible, we have worked to maintain the original elements of the property.

That said, we strive to blend the best of classic style with modern appointments, adding 21st Century features that a discerning guest would expect: the finest organic towels and Comphy linens, lovely proprietary bath products, individually controlled HVAC, Grohe Euphoria thermostatic shower fixtures, and high-speed internet.

We are committed to sustainability and certified as a Maine Lodging Environmental Leader in recognition of our efforts to reduce water use, conserve energy, minimize waste, and recycle. All rooms have individually controlled, high efficiency heating and air conditioning. The KÜL water filtration system not only reduces waste, but also exposure to microplastics. As part of our conservation effort, we no longer have refrigerators in every room, but they are available on request in most rooms.

Our proprietary bath products – infused with citrus, mint, basil, litsea, cubeba, lemongrass, and cedarwood – are made with natural organic ingredients and reduce product, transportation, and packaging waste. The Bixby Chocolates on your bed are hand crafted in Rockland, using organic, ethically sourced cacao and other ingredients.  Our LimeRock Blend coffee is also organic and ethically sourced, and produced by Rock City Coffee, a local worker-owned cooperative.

If you enjoy these products, please support our local Maine community.

Please inquire as to which rooms are equipped with shower grab bars and non slip tub mats.

COMMON AREAS

Living room with a gray couch, wooden coffee table, yellow and white armchairs, a small round table with books, lamps, framed artwork, floral wallpaper, hardwood floors, and large windows with curtains.

Upon your arrival, our wraparound porch invites and welcomes you to the LimeRock Inn. Once inside, enjoy conversations in the informal parlor or relax by the fireplace with a book from the library. For your enjoyment, the living room features a 1926 deluxe Victrola. We encourage guests to browse the collection of 78 records, sit back, and relax to music from a bygone era. Beyond the foyer are eight well-appointed guest rooms, decorated to create an environment of comfortable elegance. Architectural details and period furnishings evoke charm and character, but the inn has also been updated with many modern amenities.

Beyond the foyer is the wood-paneled dining room where you can enjoy private seating or chat casually with other guests. Take in the architectural details, unique art, and period décor. Do you notice the hardwood floors surrounding the pine center? Hardwoods were so dear in the 19th century that even the wealthiest families used hardwood only where it was likely to show, leaving pine floors in the center of the rooms that would be covered with a carpet. No true Yankee would waste money putting hardwood under a rug.

GARDENS

A colorful garden with a gazebo, lush green grass, trees, and houses in the background.

LimeRock Inn is situated on an acre of grass and informal English gardens with a casual arrangement of annuals, perennials, and flowering shrubs. Relax and enjoy a drink or snack on the gazebo, the porch, or one of several sitting areas around the yard.

GUEST PANTRY

Kitchen shelf area with green containers, wine glasses, snack baskets, a coffee maker, microwave, paper towel, and assorted drink boxes.

Enjoy complementary coffee, tea, soft drinks, and filtered water from the guest pantry, as well as snacks and occasional baked goods. Feel free to take a bucket of ice, borrow some wine glasses, or heat your left-overs in the microwave.

GIFT SHOP

Kitchen cabinet shelf with boxes of coffee, teapots, and a row of coffee mugs, along with two cookbooks about seafood and breakfast.

Browse our small gift shop where you will find the Comphy luxury sheets you sleep on at LimeRock, our Rock City Roasters LimeRock Inn blend coffee, our signature mugs and journals, and our favorite lobster and breakfast cookbooks.

A PIECE OF HISTORY

A black and white photograph of a large, Victorian-style house with a front porch, surrounded by a lawn with young trees and bushes.

The Victorian mansion was originally built in 1892 for Congressman Charles E. Littlefield and it remained the Littlefield family home for more than half a century. In 1950, Dr. Oram Lawry Jr. purchased the property and for more than 40 years it not only served as his home, but also as the office for his family medical practice. Many Rocklanders still remember and tell stories about the care they received at 96 Limerock Street. In 1994, the property was renovated and became Rockland’s first B&B. For more than 30 years, LimeRock Inn has been the community’s highest rated Inn.

Pets & Smoking Policy: LimeRock Inn does not allow pets. We are happy to make a referral to a local facility to watch your pet during your stay. Smoking is not allowed except in designate outside areas. A cleaning fee of $250 will be applied to your bill if it is determined that these policies were broken.

Cancellation Policy: LimeRock Inn is a small facility, which makes last minute cancellations very challenging. We cannot offer refunds for rooms booked with a non-refundable rate or for any room within the 14 day window prior to your stay.

Trip Insurance: We understand that reasons beyond your control may result in your need to cancel this reservation.  That’s why we encourage you to consider purchasing travel insurance and suggest using www.insuremytrip.com.  Our 14 day cancellation policy is commensurate to our area and reflects the adverse impact cancellations have on our business.  We appreciate your understanding.
