LimeRock Inn Named Reader’s Favorite B&B in DownEast Magazine Reader’s Awards

Friday, June 28th, 2013

Frank Isganitis of LimeRock Inn & Paul Doiron, Editor of DownEast Magazine

Down East Enterprise, “a multimedia company based in Rockport, Maine, devoted to celebrating “Maine at its Best,” has recently recognized Rockland’s LimeRock Inn with a Best of Maine Reader’s Choice Award, to be presented during an awards ceremony at the Portland Club in Portland on June 27. Describing itself as Maine’s premier magazine, Down East: The Magazine of Maine has 400,000 readers who are attracted by the spirit and culture of Maine depicted in the stunning photography, Maine humor, and signature story-telling of the magazine, not to mention Maine’s distinctive travel destinations and inns.

The Annual Down East Awards traditionally consisted of Editors’ Choice awards in several categories where magazine staffers would compile and name their choices for the year. Additionally, this year, a ballot was inserted into the April Down East issue to compile input from readers for a Down East Reader’s Choice Award. Thousands of readers voted for their favorite businesses in several categories, including Arts, Boating, Education, Entertainment, Food, Home Improvement, Lodging, Shopping, and Travel. The LimeRock Inn was chosen as the Best B&B in Maine and included in the list of Reader’s Choice Awards under the Travel category.

“We were delighted and honored to be chosen as a Best of Maine Award winner,” said Frank Isganitis, co-owner of the LimeRock Inn. “This award means so much to us because it comes from people who love Maine as much as we do,” finished Isganitis.

Down East’s website describes the LimeRock Inn as elegant and premier, saying…”One of Rockland’s most elegant bed & breakfasts, is tucked away on a quiet side street encircled by a wraparound porch and landscaped gardens. Step back in time to a world of relaxation in comfort and elegance in a beautiful coastal ME turreted Victorian mansion turned B&B. This exquisite example of Queen Anne architecture is reminiscent of the gracious lifestyle of a bygone era. Situated in the historic district, LimeRock Inn is steps away from a visit to the mid-coast region’s world-class Farnsworth Museum, fine dining, European style shopping, and what Down East magazine referred to as “mid-coast Maine’s most beautiful ocean walk.” When it comes to lodging in Rockland, LimeRock Inn’s sumptuous and hearty breakfasts, whirlpool or European soaking tubs, private fireplaces, and king beds combine the most luxurious amenities for the perfect romantic getaway. For those who’d rather not go unplugged, the entire Inn is WiFi enabled. In addition, a guest computer complete with free, high-speed internet service is available at all times along with complimentary refreshments in the guest pantry…”

LimeRock Inn’s Reader’s Choice Award puts them in good company with such Maine greats as Stephen King, Patrick Dempsey, Comedian Bob Marley, and James Beard Award winning Chef, Melissa Kelly.

Rockland Farmer’s Market!!

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

As innkeepers, it is very difficult for us to leave the inn before noon as we are busy finishing up breakfast, cleaning rooms and assisting our guests.  The Rockland Farmer’s Market takes place every Thursday through the summer down at Harbor Park and sadly to say, today was our first opportunity to experience this gem in our town!

There are 20 some odd purveryors which include many local farms.  You can find everything from meats to cheeses, to jams, loads of fresh veggies, even soaps and ice cream.

For us, this trip also included lunch at the Uproot Pie Company which is a mobile wood fired brick over pizza outfit.  Our personal pizzas were to die for!!

We picked up a bunch of verggies for dinner tonight.  Can’t wait to try them out.

If your in town on a Thursday morning, this is a must see stop.  you won’t regret it!! Of course the location ain’t too shabby either!!!
